Mission Statement

The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths is dedicated to solving the mystery of sudden and unexpected infant deaths, and to the emotional support of those who are affected.

Each week, 3 babies die of SIDS in Canada.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, also called SIDS or "crib death," is the sudden and unexpected death of an apparently healthy infant, which remains unexplained after a complete post-mortem investigation which includes an autopsy and an examination of the circumstances of death. It is the number 1 cause of death in Canada for infants between one week and one year of age, claiming the lives of every 1 out of every 2,000 live-born babies.
